Recognising food allergies

Your dog stays healthy by using the nutrients from his food to build and repair tissues and obtain energy. The gastrointestinal tract absorbs nutrients while keeping out anything that could potentially be harmful. Sometimes the body gets confused and refuses dietary proteins, identifying them as potential risks. The dietary proteins can trigger an abnormal immune response, thicken the intestinal wall and prohibit part of the (protein and fat) digestion. You may notice some of the following symptoms:

  • Itchiness
  • Hair loss
  • Skin problems
  • Ear infections
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Increased gas or flatulence

These symptoms can appear in every life stage but often appear in younger dogs. It is common in all types of dogs but occurs relatively more in Retrievers, Spaniels, Shepherds, Shar-peis, Poodles and Labradoodles.

When your dog is diagnosed with food allergies:

How do you know if your dog suffers from food allergies? We recommend consulting a veterinarian to take a full history on your dog and do a general exam. When your dog is diagnosed with food allergies, the only effective way to treat a food allergy is to change his diet.

Sometimes dogs suffer from digestion problems, stomach pain or irritated skin or coat from eating grain such as wheat or soy. Scientific research1 shows that the protein source is more likely to cause the problems. Additional omega 3 & 6 fatty acids help to solve skin and coat problems.

Boxby sensitive protein health supplement treats reduce the risk of adverse food reactions and help to improve skin and coat.

Science proved quality of BOXBY SENSITIVE PROTEIN:

Boxby sensitive protein supplement treats contain hydrolysed protein from fish. Foods in which the proteins are hydrolysed do not trigger allergic reaction to these proteins.

✔ 50% hydrolysed salmon

Hydrolysis uses water in which various enzymes are used to chemically break the protein molecules into small pieces: amino-acids and peptides. The pieces are so small that the body can not recognise the dietary protein anymore. The result is that these proteins are easily digestible and therefore have higher nutritional profiles than regular proteins.

Dogs suffering from food allergies or sensitive stomachs benefit from hydrolysed diets.

Hydrolysed protein is also effective supporting dogs with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) (chronic irritation of the intestinal tract). Scientific research2 shows that feeding hydrolysed proteins reduces the severity of the chronic signs and long-term use improves the integrity of the intestinal membrane.

✔ Salmon as easily digestible animal protein source

We use Salmon also as an easily digestible protein source. Salmon is known for its healthy unsaturated fats and is low in calories, being called lean protein. Consuming lean proteins gives your dog the vitamins and minerals needed to keep their metabolism running efficiently.

✔ Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids

Apart from Salmon also additional omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids are added to provide essential building blocks amino-acids for skin and coat.

✔ Potato

We use potatoes as a source of Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Vitamin B6. Potatoes are rich in nutrients to strengthen and improve the immune system and maintain a healthy skin and coat.

✔ Cold pressed below 60˚C

Producing up to a maximum of 60˚C preserves the nutrition, especially proteins and aromas of the ingredients used in this product.

✔ No wheat, no soy

All ingredients like grains, proteins, fats, minerals, trace elements and vitamins needs to be in balance. However, some dogs may suffer from digestion problems, stomach pain or irritated skin or coat from eating wheat or soy proteins. That is why we use rice flour as grain, pre-digested hydrolysed salmon proteins, loads of healthy fatty acids and vegetables to balance this product.
